Future Advocates for Agriculture Concerned About Tomorrow (FAACT)

In 2003, FCFB created the Future Advocates for Agriculture Concerned About Tomorrow (FAACT) program, an eight-month comprehensive educational series for community leaders focusing on issues affecting agriculture - the county's number one employer.

The once-a-month, day-long seminars provide classroom discussions combined with tour/field trips and leading industry experts. FAACT offers a balanced, factual presentation of several issue areas specific to agriculture, such as air quality, land use planning, water quality regulations and supply development, immigration and agricultural labor issues, regulatory processes and the economic viability of agriculture.

Since its inception 16 years ago, over 200 people have participated in the FAACT program. Alumni members include representatives from both the public and private sectors, such as legislative staff, agricultural financing and real estate, public water agencies, law enforcement, farmers and agricultural-related businesses.

Class participants are provided the opportunity to become involved in FCFB's advocacy efforts. Currently, several FAACT alumni serve on FCFB's Board of Directors.
