Fruit Trail
It’s been two months since Fresno County residents enjoyed the sights of the Fresno County Blossom Trail, and very soon the literal fruits of that labor will be enjoyed by all as the Fresno County Fresh Fruit Trail gets underway, beginning with opening ceremonies on May 15.
The award winning Fresno County Fruit Trail will begin its fifth summer on Thursday, May 15 at 4 p.m. in downtown Kingsburg’s Swedish Village. After the Opening Ceremony, attendees can enjoy the Kingsburg Farmer’s Market on Draper Street. The Fresh Fruit Trail, which runs from May through September, features a drive through rural areas (following the Blossom Trail route) with stops along the way to purchase local produce direct from the farm. The trail already has 20 strawberry stands selling fresh picked berries.
The Fresh Fruit Trail is a cooperative public private partnership encompassing nine cities and over 50 member stops. The 2008 season continues to be a true collaborative effort featuring nine eastern Fresno County cities, as well as local farmers markets, heritage and cultural attractions, unique one-of-a-kind hometown festivals and special events, and continued support from the U.C. Small Farm Center. The Trail was recently named by Conde Nast Portfolio as one of Five Fabulous North American Foodie Destinations.
Fresno County Fruit Trail maps are available on the web here, and at visitor centers throughout eastern Fresno County. Trail travelers can also request maps by calling (559) 262-4271.
