A-C Electric Company: Powering future generations

Established in 1945, A-C Electric Company (A-C) has evolved into one of the Valley's most notable electrical engineering firms. From simple office additions to hospitals, schools and interstate freeways, A-C Electric Company's mission is to deliver quality, value and consistent project execution.

Bonded by their mutual work experience as foreman at the China Lake Naval Test Station in WWII and driven by the desire to create 'better jobs for better people', Joe Alexander and Tom Corr knew that by coming together they could create a stronger organization then either one could do separately and from this A-C Electric Company was born.

Today, A-C has grown into a multifaceted operation with offices located in Bakersfield, Fresno and Visalia. Their over 70 years of experience allows them to make even the most complex electrical needs simple, and their 24/7 service department keeps the community up and running. In addition to A-C, the business has expanded its operations through the establishment of Automated Control Technical Services (AC-TS) and A-C Solar divisions.

AC&TS offers automation and systems integration services through the utilization of the latest technologies including Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based control systems, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and motor controls. These systems can regulate everything from food processors to water treatment plants.

In 2009, after over a decade of installing solar systems as an electrical sub-contractor, A-C Solar was created as a dedicated department for designing, engineering, and constructing solar systems. "A-C Solar provides energy to organizations involved in three major areas including agriculture, commercial and non-profit," explained Toby Lindblad, Energy Consultant for the company. "Regarding the agricultural industry, A-C Solar works with various dairies, equipment manufacturers, meat processors, fertilizer companies and nut processors throughout the Valley."

Before working with A-C Solar, Lindblad spent 25 years in the steel building and metal roofing industry which provided structures for solar panels. In his current position, Lindblad is responsible for designing proposals and showing individuals how they can potentially benefit from incorporating solar into their business operations or non-profit organizations.

"Aside from creating solutions for our clients, A-C Solar is a unique organization in that we work with various financial services and manufacturers to meet our clients' budgets and needs," Lindblad said. "Additionally, A-C Solar was voted number one solar company in the Fresno Business Journal's 2016 Book of Lists and was ranked as the sixth solar contractor in North America by Solar Power World in 2017."

A-C Solar became a Friends of the Family Farm member in 2016 with the hopes of further engaging their community in both the electrical engineering and solar divisions. "We are here for our customers and the community for the long haul," explained Lindblad. "We want to be able to shake their hands, as well as understand and meet our clients' needs."
