Vernon Conrad

Vernon Conrad is an FCFB At-Large Director

Vernon has a long-time commitment and dedication to agriculture. He served as the Fresno County Farm Bureau president from 1978-80, in addition to serving for many years prior to that in various leadership roles within the organization.

His leadership in FCFB and on local water and school boards helped prepare him to become elected as a Fresno County Supervisor, where he continued to champion with a broader focus for the betterment of rural communities and the county’s leading industry – agriculture. He served three terms as supervisor from 1982-1994.

The Conrad family’s roots in agriculture date back to the late-1800s, along the east side of Fresno County near Reedley. During the 1940s and 1960s, Vernon raised cattle on the then-permanent pasture, which now produces peaches, plums and nectarines. During the years, he diversified into vineyard and other orchard crops.

In 2005, Vernon received the Chamber’s Agriculturist of the Year Award.

Throughout the years, Vernon hasn’t waivered from his dedication and passion for farming and the rural way of life. This is evident by his lifetime of service to agriculture through his personal and leadership efforts.
